The game of bingo is enjoyed by people from all walks of life and is a very good game for most physically impaired people to play. However, for a blind person, until recently, playing bingo was difficult. Some bingo halls offered Braille bingo cards, but to use them you had to be a very good Braille reader and have a fantastic memory, or use a fiddly cover system to mark the numbers as played. Blind people playing bingo with sighted people were placed at a considerable disadvantage using the Braille bingo card system.
The Audible Bingo Card
Fortunately, someone came up with a much better system called the audible bingo card. As numbers are called they are written onto the board and if the number is on your card there is a bleep. Once the card is complete you are told you have won by a series of bleeps.
However, there is a problem because not all bingo halls allow people to play in their halls using audible bingo cards. Slowly this is changing, but it takes a blind bingo player to stand up to individual bingo companies to persuade them to let them use them.
